What's involved?
User needs and user research are important components of the user-centred design processes to ensure your website faithfully serves your customers.
User needs refer to the requirements, desires, and expectations that users have when interacting with a product. It is important to identify and understand these needs to design a solution that effectively addresses user problems.
User research involves using systematic methods to gather information about user behaviours, needs and preferences. This research aims to understand the motivations, pain points and behaviours of users. Research methods include surveys, interviews, observational studies, usability testing or analytics.
Why is it important?
User needs and research helps us to understand our audience and what they want to do, to design a solution that works for them. User needs and research go hand in hand. By conducting research, designers and developers can gain a deeper understanding of user needs, which in turn allows them to create solutions that better meet those needs. This iterative process often involves multiple rounds of research, design, testing, and refinement to ensure that the final product or service effectively addresses user needs and provides a positive user experience.
